Welcome.

Marvel Comic's 1602 is an eight part series written by Neil Gaiman (author of The Sandman and American Gods, winner of the Hugo and Nebula awards) and illustrated by Andy Kubert, whose previous work for Marvel includes Captain America and Uncanny X-Men.

In his typical fashion, Gaiman takes an existing world and turns it on its ear, and this series sees many of Marvel's stable of well-known characters (and a few somewhat less recognised ones as well) transported back 400 years to 1602A.D.

What follows is a riveting tale of a world in jeopardy, beautifully developed through Gaiman's characterisation and plot, punctuated by Kubert's exquisite illustration.

This website is dedicated to exploring various elements of the masterpiece that is 1602. In the pages linked to this one you will find a summary of each of the episodes, a brief bio on several of the characters that appear in the series, information of the award-winning author of the series, Neil Gaiman, and a list of links and references related to 1602, it's plot, and characters.

On October 11, 2005, 1602 receieved the inaugural Quill Award for Best Graphic Novel.
